  1. Enter fence length — measure the total linear feet of the fence line you want to install. Walk the perimeter and add up each section.
  2. Select fence height — 6 feet is the most common for privacy, 4 feet for front yards, and 8 feet for maximum privacy.
  3. Choose fencing material — wood (most popular), vinyl (low maintenance), chain link (budget), aluminum (decorative), composite (premium), or set a custom cost per linear foot.
  4. Set labor cost — adjust the labor rate per linear foot for your region. Hilly terrain, rocky soil, and premium materials cost more.
