What Kind of Investor Are You?

A 7-question quiz that scores you across 8 investor archetypes. Get your match + a recommended asset allocation in under a minute.

How it works

  • 1. Answer 7 quick questions about how you actually invest (or would invest).
  • 2. We score you across 8 archetypes: Boglehead, Value Hunter, Growth Chaser, Income Seeker, Crypto Native, Cautious Saver, Day Trader, Contrarian.
  • 3. Get your top match, your second-place alloy, a recommended asset allocation, and famous investors who share your style.
Note: This is a fun, free tool — not a substitute for a formal KYC risk-tolerance questionnaire from a registered advisor. If you have >$100K to invest, talk to a fee-only fiduciary before making big allocation changes.

How to use this quiz

This is a 7-question personality quiz for investors. The goal is to identify your dominant investing archetype — the style you'd gravitate to if you had full control of a portfolio and weren't constrained by what your employer offers in the 401(k).

Answer honestly, not aspirationally. If you've never bought a stock in your life, don't pick the option that sounds coolest — pick the one that matches what you'd actually do if your broker put $10,000 in front of you tomorrow. The result includes a recommended asset allocation, but treat that as a starting point, not gospel: your age, tax bracket, net worth, and family situation all shift the right answer.

Most people land 60/40 between two adjacent archetypes — e.g. Boglehead + Value Hunter, or Income Seeker + Cautious Saver. That's the most useful signal in the score breakdown. If your second-place score is within 2 points of your top, lean into the hybrid style rather than picking one camp.

Retake as often as you like — your archetype often shifts as you age, accumulate assets, or go through your first bear market. The quiz lives entirely in your browser; nothing is stored.

Disclaimer: This quiz is for educational and entertainment purposes. It's not investment advice, not a substitute for a financial advisor, and not a regulated KYC questionnaire. Asset allocation recommendations are general starting points — your personal situation (age, income, tax bracket, dependents, liquidity needs, net worth) is the dominant input. Consult a fee-only fiduciary advisor before making large allocation changes. Past performance of any archetype is no guarantee of future results.
